Susan Eames LRWCMD

I studied singing at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and have had the privilege of singing with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and the BBC National Chorus of Wales. My career has included session work, solo recitals and productions across Europe.  Now based in Pendle, Lancashire, I teach singing from my private home studio, and I’m also a singing and LAMDA Musical Theatre tutor at Westholme School in Blackburn and Giggleswick School in Yorkshire. With over 20 years’ experience teaching in primary schools, secondary schools, and sixth form colleges, I’m passionate about helping students develop their voices and confidence.

I work to help each student build a personal vocal ‘toolbox’, practical skills and techniques they can use to confidently approach songs in any genre they enjoy. While I teach a variety of vocal styles, my main areas of focus are Musical Theatre and Classical.

So, whether your child wants to take musical theatre exams and perform in the West End, take classical music exams and go onto music college or would just like a bit more confidence, having singing lessons is a great start! I help singers at all levels, from complete beginners to professionals. Many of my students have gone onto music and drama colleges, and you can see some of these on my ‘Alumni’ page and there are also lots of videos of students on my social media platforms for you to check out.

I'm always exploring new teaching and training methods so I can offer different approaches. Every voice is unique, and what works for one student might not work for another. I’m passionate about helping students truly understand and connect with their voice, including the anatomy behind it, so they can develop a sound that’s genuinely their own. I also focus on helping them dive into the character, emotion, and story behind each song, so they can perform in a way that feels real and fully expressive.

I am an accredited teacher for the ‘Vocal Process’  and have also completed the ‘Estill Voice Training’ courses. Outside of the classroom, I particularly enjoy running singing/choral workshops and masterclasses, and I am regularly called upon to adjudicate at singing competitions.

"A student of Susan Eames has professionalism, vocal versatility, and confidence, with a balance between technique, musicality, and emotional expression"
