Susan Eames LRWCMD

Susan studied singing at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and has sung with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and the BBC National Chorus. She has session sung and had numerous solo recitals across Europe as well as musical theatre productions. Now based in Pendle, Lancashire, she is a singing teacher in her  private practise at home and singing/LAMDA Musical Theatre tutor at Westholme School in Blackburn, and Giggleswick School in Yorkshire, having gained over 20 years’ experience at numerous primary, secondary schools and sixth form colleges.

I aim to build each child their personal vocal ‘toolbox’, filled with techniques which they can use to learn and interpret songs in whatever style they choose. I teach a wide variety of vocal genres, mainly focusing on Musical Theatre and Classical.

So, whether your child wants to take musical theatre exams and perform in the West End, take classical music exams and go onto music college or would just like a bit more confidence, having singing lessons is a great start! I help singers at all levels – from complete beginners to professionals. Many of my students have gone onto music and drama colleges, and you can see some of these on my ‘Alumni’ page. There are also lots of videos of students for you to check out.

I regularly research new teaching and training methods to provide a variety of approaches, as each student’s voice is so unique. Helping students nurture and understand their voice (including its anatomy) is important to me to help them find their own sound.  It’s important for me to develop my students’ ability to discover, integrate and communicate the character, emotions, motives and back-stories inherent in any song.

I am an accredited teacher for the ‘Vocal Process’  and have also completed the ‘Estill Voice Training’ courses. Outside of the classroom, I particularly enjoy running singing/choral workshops and masterclasses, and I am frequently called upon to adjudicate at singing competitions.

A Susan Eames’ student exhibits professionalism, vocal dexterity and confidence, and demonstrates a dynamic balance between technique, musicianship and emotional impact.
